Every Kenyan school deserves a place in the digital world.
Taarifa began with a simple observation in staffrooms across Kenya: teachers were spending their evenings on mark sheets, bursars were chasing lost bank slips, and parents only heard from school when something had already gone wrong. The work was real. The tools were not.
Our Aim
To help every school, rural or urban, small or large, transition into the digital world of edtech, without expensive hardware, long training, or disruption to the term already underway.
How We Build
We design for real classroom conditions: low bandwidth, shared devices, and basic phones in parents’ hands. If it does not work on a Tuesday afternoon in a Form 2 staffroom, it does not ship.
Where We’re Going
From 60 partner schools today to a connected national community of schools, teachers, and families, all sharing one honest record of a learner’s progress.
The Tech Band Originals
Taarifa is built and maintained by The Tech Band Originals, a Kenyan product studio building software for local realities.
